Today marks the start of the 2017 Virgin Australia Supercars season! The cars have taken to the track in Adelaide for the Clipsal 500.

In Practice 2, Scott McLaughlin came out on top, with Rick Kelly in second and defending Champion Shane Van Gisbergen in third.

It hasn’t gone well so far for Alex Rullo however. The 16-year-old from Perth, driving on a specially granted super licence, has already incurred a penalty in his first official session. He was caught crossing the control line more than once following the end of Practice 1, and as a result will be forced to sit out the first five minutes of Practice 2.
