The car that almost powered Damon Hill to  one of Formula One’s most unlikely victories has been put up for sale.

Hill during the 1997 Hungarian Grand Prix.

The Arrows A18 came to the limelight when reigning World Champion Damon Hill, who had been having a horrible season with Arrows up until the Hungarian Grand Prix, managed to qualify third for the race, and go on to take the lead from Michael Schumacher after 11 laps. The Englishman was all set for a very unlikely victory, but his hopes were dashed by a hydraulic issue that caused him to lose pace, and then also the win to 1997 World Champion and former team-mate, Jacques Villeneuve.

The car comes in perfect condition, having being looked after properly since the conclusion of the 1997 season. A new D-spec Yamaha engine is in the car, and it comes with all necessary manuals and even some important pit equipment and spare tyres.

It comes at a rather exorbirant price, but really, it wouldn’t be a bad investment if you had €250,000 to spare…
