Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas have continued the success of Mercedes in the hybrid era, clocking times in the 1:24’s (yes, only 1 tenth above the lap record) in FP1.
The two Red Bulls were the next runners in the standings, followed by the Ferrari drivers. With all this being said however, it still seems that some, if not all teams, are holding back their pace.
it made for an intriguing session, with not much running in the first 45 minutes despite the fact it is the first race of the season. McLaren started the session with aero rakes in Stoffel Vandoorne’s car.
